Florence nightingale is the pioneer of modern nursing. She was born in London on May 12th 1820 to a wealthy british family and during her earlier teens she felt that she was called by God and submitted herself to the service. She completed her nursing training for 6 months and started her services .During Crimean war in the Scutari hospital of turkey she provided her services to the soldiers who were affected in the war.During her services she found the unhygienic environmental condition of the hospital that is many rodents,no clean drainage supplies, lack of food.So she believed that many soldiers died not because of their disease but because of the unhygienic conditions. So she submitted a detailed report to the then queen of england regarding the condition of London soldiers and the state of the hospital. From this she developed a theory in Nursing that is environmental theory. For all her services she has provided she has been awarded with the diamond necklace by Queen Victoria where she utilized that amount for establishing the nightingale school of nursing. She was considered as the lady with the lamp as she has been going for rounds in the hospital during night times to take care of the patients with the lamp.So she is considered as lady with the lamp.Later after her abundant services she has been bed ridden gor almost 30 years because of syphilis and died on August 13th 1910.
