Describe a neurological condition or diagnosis. What are the treatments? Do people generally recover? Why or why not?
When we talk about neurological condition, we refer to the problem associated with the central and peripheral nervous system of human body like the brain, spinal cord, neuromuscular junction and others due to structural or biochemical abnormalities. Dementia or Alzheimer's disease is one such condition where the brain cells starts dying by itself and starts degenerating its connection and eventually starts to shrink. As a result the patient start loosing their memory and other important brain functions. There are some medications known as cholinesterase inhibitors used for reducing the symptoms of moderate Alzheimer's disease and regulate behavioral symptoms.
But generally these people with neurological conditions do not recover. Even in the case of Alzheimer's disease, medication can only improve symptoms to a certain extent but can not fully cure the patient. Though some exceptions are there, but mostly these patients do not recover fully. This is because any damage in the function of nervous system like brain or spinal chord is rather progressive and nerve damage is very difficult to cure entirely.
