Learning is a psychological process. Psychologists have considered it as a mental process which continues throughout life. In this the child grows towards maturity. By taking advantage of his experience and training, he makes progressive changes and refinement in natural behaviour or feeling.

Characteristics of learning:

a) Learning means the process of learning which is always going on.

b) In general, the change in behaviour is called learning. Through this the child is able to understand the happenings around him.

c) Memorizing a subject by role cannot be called learning.

d) Children are naturally eager to learn.

e) If the child is not mentally ready to learn in the beginning, then he should not be taught. This later affects their tendency to learn. They may memorize many facts, but because of this they find it difficult to connect the facts with their surroundings.
