Reflect on ways to encourage open communication
As we know communication is the key for any object or any task to get completed with desired time and effectiveness. But mostly due to lapses in communication or due to a closed and inaccessible communication channel the productivity decreases and we see a downward trajectory. So communication should always to open and accessable to all the members of the team. The following are the ways to encourage open communication:
1. Being approachable - For any open communication to happen the channels of the communication should be open to approach with an idea, suggestions or complaints. By being approachable we reduce the unnecessary barriers that can impact the critical communication which is important for the final goal completion. A leader when is approachable gets helps from all the members towards a smoother functioning and quick problem resolution
2. Open discussion platforms - Providing platforms where the members of the team can openly discussion the current state and problems is very important in order to understand a 360 degree view of the project and dependent goal. These open platform helos in raising some critical and interesting ideas, comments and suggestions which can be very helpful in the long run.
3. Asking suggestions and conducting discussions - Seeking suggestions of all the members despite of the designation or rank is important as it is very important for all voices to be heard of we are to reach a goal and progress. Openly asking suggestions and conducting discussions can help to clarify the problems and get to the real on ground truth which can keep the leadership aware of all the important aspects of the project.
4. Giving creadit and respect - To promote open communication, giving the deserved appreciation openly helps team members get the motivation and recognition which is more important than any financial gain. This when translates to respect can help open communication for the betterment of the task at hand and growth in the long run.
5. One on one meetings - Personal touch always remains a special skillset as it makes the members feel they are important and being heard. By conducting one on one meetings we can iron out the issues that affect the team and their performance at the personal level which when resolved ca help tremendously in productivity and success. So one on one meetings exponentially helps in open communication goals.
