An incident of Groupthink that immediately occurs to me was when I was suspended from attending school for playing a prank on a fellow classmate. We were a group of five friends and one of my friends was having an issue with this classmate. Two of my friends decided that we should “teach” the classmate “a lesson”. Initially, three of us remaining friends were either in complete disagreement or neutral about the decision, after a lengthy discussion, we all decided to go ahead with the prank.

This is an example of a Groupthink because prior to the decision being made, the group had three separate viewpoints: for the decision, against the decision and a neutral stance. However, by the end of the discussion, the group members represent a singular stance, which was in support of playing the prank. The outcome, as I mentioned, in the beginning, was all of us being suspended from school for two weeks.
