Research and Evaluation:
The study investigates the motivation of women for detection of breast cancer who had a family history. The study discusses the phenomena of opportunity for women for screen-detected breast cancer while on a mammographic surveillance programme. A qualitative pre and post study was conducted among 12 women between the ages of 35-50 years. The research was conducted based on the patient's family history of breast cancer. The variables used in the study is the observed outcomes in the population and hypothesis are formulated when women wanted to continue screening.
The research was designed based on an exploratory qualitative study. The sample was collected randomly and the interview method is used to motivate the women for the participation in the screening program. The sample size is 12. The data was gathered on women between the ages of 35-50 who have the family history of breast cancer. The qualitative data was analyzed and checked for accuracy and validity.
Subsequently, T-tests were used among the sample to determine the differences exist between the pre-test and post-test levels. Pre-test and Post-test results were interpreted in the form of tables and bar graphs. The clinical implications include the women need to be mentally prepared before the screening. The limitations of the study were the women within the age group of 35-50 years. The study that does not support the research results is the length of the study, expansion of the sample size, and it creates fear of women on cancer.
