He was a central figure in united state and african history due to his special thought. In following points we can easily go through the tools used by Mr. Douglass over the course of the lifetime to help slaves gain their freedom :-

1. He became a leader and spokeperson for the U.S Abolition movement after getting free from slavery and used his ideas of education to come out of slavery, he used his critism as a tool to make people understand the impotance of education and freedom.

2. He wrote three autobiography and with the help of his autobiograpy he aimed to attack on reader mind and heart to go against slavery and soon to get freedom. Three of his autobiograpy are, MY FREEDOM , LIFE AND TIMES OF FREDERICK and NARRATIVE OF THE LIFE OF FREDRICK DOUGLASS.

With his belief on eduation and knowledge Mr. Douglass tried alot his whole life to make slaves to come over there slavery and understand the importance of eduaction and essences of freedom, which is right of everyone who born in this world. His life was a total dedication to normal life.

Yes, i do agree with this assessment of Douglass given in the film that he was "an important figure in the coming of the civil war and in the way that the war was fought" Because, the main tool of Douglass was education he want all to get the right to read and write. So, they can understand the equallity of taking birth. This war between white and black people was a war due to inequality in race, which was not right according to Douglass,Because we all have right to take breathe freely in this world.
