37.Role of liver in metabolism of cholesterol
-biochemistry
(please more explanation Im medicine student )
liver is the largest internal organ of the body situated in the right hypochondrium to left hypochondrium region and its largest in the mass.
it functions a very important role in the body like bile production and excretion and also excretion of bilurubin cholesterol homones and drugs etc,
it metablize the fat carbohydrate and portein and work on enzymes and plays a imporant role in digestion.
and cholesterol is wax sticky substance found in body and they are important in making vitamin D protein while excess cholesterol is harmful for us and so it is excreted by liver from body. ( the excess one).
liver plays a important role in cholesterol metabolism cholesterol goes in our body from the food and also body makes it for the formation of hormones enzymes vitamin d etc.
there are mainly two categories of lipid one is called high density lipoprotein or HDL and low density lipoprotein called LDL
HDL should be more than 40mg/dl as they are called a good cholesterol as they makes the cholesterol level from cell to go in liver where breaks into smaller one and they are excreted out but LDL are regarded as bad cholesterol and should be less than 100mg/dl as they comes into the cells from liver and can be harmful if deposited in arteries and can cause atheroschlerosis.
liver breaks the cholesterol into bile salts and they are then excreted from the body and if you maintain the hdl which is good for body helps in production of hormones enzymes and vitamin d and also gets excreted by liver but if LDL is increased due to heavy junk food , smoking etc the ldl imcreases creates a load on liver and then body is in danger so liver plays a important role in excreting the cholesterol out the body.
