what do you think about the WTO dispute resolution process? Is it fair? Are there any changes you would make if you had the ability to? Discuss substantively in at least two paragraphs.
The WTO ( WORLD TRADE ORGANISATION ) dispute settlement process is bit fair i guess because the main objective is to promote peace & fair trade between the member nations. Since the inception of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1995, member countries have been heavily relying on the organization's dispute settlement procedure (DSP). The main aim of the WTO is MFN ( Most favoured nation) status to the member countries, treating foreigners & locals equally. The DSP also looks that the member nations have trade free barriers so that the trade is encouraged between them.
I feel there is a small blunder in providing MFN status to the member nations, it says that the member countries should provide MFN status to all but what if a country a member of WTO doesnt provide MFN status to the other country to have transparent trade. EG:- Pakistan being a terrorist country and a member of WTO never gave its neighbour INDIA such status hence they hiked all the import duties as such from goods imported from INDIA. On the other hand INDIA has given MFN status despite being hit by Pakistan., so here i feel the DSP should be stringent and hard.
