Review the legal, ethical, or regulatory issues of telehealth’s virtual nursing practice from non-traditional work settings (e.g., home). Provide examples to illustrate your points.
#. Legal/Privacy Issues
Nurses must promote/maintain patient privacy/confidentiality/ensure that any means of communication is compliant with HIPAA
Protections must be sufficient for technology
Patients of telehealth interventions should be informed of the potential risks (limitations to securing transmissions)
Patient can also refuse the use of telehealth and prefer face-to-face visits
Ethics of Telehealth :-
Nurses should strive to adhere to best practices and a code of ethics
Use of telehealth should not adversely affect the relationship between the patient and the HCP
Using some technology may cause undue stress on individuals and that needs to be taken into consideration
Patients may prefer to drive that hour to actually "see their HCP. They may feel uncomfortable using a monitor to talk to their physician
The use of telehealth technologies is entirely up to the patient and their HCP
No one can be forced to use telehealth
