1. Continuum is that keeps on changing slowly over time. Family
continuum includes two extremities. They are dysfunctional family
and ideal family. The skills that are promoted in a healthy family
are:
• Learn self respecting behaviour
• Learn to value needs of others
• Learn healthful attitudes towards sexuality
• Have healthful sex roles
• Have effective communication skills
• Have a clear sense of value
• Make responsible decisions
• Try to resolve conflicts
• Practice effective coping skills
• Delay gratification
• Express affection
• Respect authority
2. Types of dysfunctional family:
• One or both parents have addiction or compulsions
• One or both parents use threat or physical violence for
control
• One or both parents exploit the children and treat them as
possessions
• One or both parents are unable to provide basic care and
financial support for their children
• One or both parents show strong authoritative power
