The book we are supposed to use is: Comprehensive School Health Education. I cant find any of the answers in it.
1. Describe the major life skills needed for optimal mental-emotional wellness. 2. Discuss the relationship between values and character development, and outline an approach to developing good character. 3. Identify various types of addictive behaviors and mental disorders and discuss their impact on a healthy mind. 4. Outline the general adaptation syndrome and the effects of stress on health, and discuss several stress management skills. 5. Identify several suicide risk factors and warning signs, and describe prevention strategies and skills. 6. Explain the causes and stages of grief and recommend healthy ways to respond to loss. 7. Discuss the common responses to life crises.
1-Life skills are behaviour that make individual person to adapt and deal effectively with life challenges and demands.For mental and emotional wellness some life skills are needed that are
Self awareness, critical thinking,coping with stress,effective communication,coping with emotion,problem solving and interpersonal relationship.
2- Values and character development are interwoven that means blends closely in daily experience.Values education is the process of providing opportunities for continous development in all individuals includes knowledge,skills,attitudes.and Character features that makeover and recognize the individual actions,attitudes and practice that characterize a person.A good character involves good understanding nature,caring about and acting upon ethical values.
3-General adaptation syndrome is three stage response that body has stress.stress defines as physical and mental responses to life experiences.Stress severely effects health by creating resposes such as anxiety,depression,irritability,headache,insomnia.
Stress hormones weakens immune system and thus reduces body responses to foriegn invaders.
The very first step to manage stress is to understand from where these feeling are coming so that one can try to cope up with it.some programs are designed to cope up with stress.
Action oriented approaches,emotional and acceptance approaches.one can make some changes in their life to cope with stress like they should try to let go negative thinking habits, be positive thinkers,create defenses against stressful situations.
4-Suicide is killing oneself.there is no single cause or risk factors for suicide.all above depression is common risk factor for suicide.
Something to look out for when concerned that person may be suicidal is behavioural changes, changes in talk,mood swings and health factors.
Prevention strategies for suicide includes Crisis intervention,structured counselling, psycotherapy and hospitalization.person centered life skill trainings are also available.therapeutic recreational therapy used for those persons to improve moods.
5- Grief- there are 7 stages of grief
Shock and denial, painand guilt,anger and bargaining,depression,upward turn,reconstruction and working through,acceptance and hope.
Healthy ways to respond to loss is only to stay connected with related persons.behave kind to yourself ,built your positive capacity to improve and accept the situation with kindness.
6-there are voluntary and involuntary responses to life crises.
Emotional responses such as anger, feeling, depression.
Physical responses such as fatigue,headache,dizziness,weakness
Behavioural responses such as change in activity level, inability to relax ,appetite changes.
