Activity intolerance related to fatigue secondary to
metastasis of cancer in liver.
Nursing interventions :
- Establish smaller activities according to the patient
capability.
- Assist in activities of daily living.
- Ask the patient not to do activities which are not essential.
This saves patients energy.
- Provide bedside urinal or commode if needed.
- Frequent change of poisition should be encouraged to prevent
sores.
- Teach deep breathing exercises which helps the patient to relax
and be comfortable.
- Provide analgesics when needed so that the patient is free from
pain and it enhances the quality of life in the terminal stage of
life.
- Encourage the patient to call over and talk to people he wishes
as this is the last phase of life and he should feel comfortable
and be happy.
- Treat the patient symptomatically so that quality of life is
met .
- Help the patient in keeping himself neat and clean.
- Provide the needed emotional support.
- Encourage the patient to express his feelings regarding the
limitations.
- Teach a few small range of motion exercises which can make a
person feel better.
- Assess for the sleep patterns and disturbances if any.
- Provide a calm environment to sleep.
- Encourage the patient to take appropriate nutrition.
- Provide oxygen if needed .
