Over the last 15 years health care system have considerably increases their didication to quality and safety education for nursing staff. There is also and increase in anual required continuation education units by state boards of nursing around subjects.More than acronym QSEN represents and initiative in nursing field to align nursing education and nursing field to align nursing education and nursing best practice in quality and safety standards. According to report from American nurses association QSEN is a national movement that guides nurses to redesign what and how they deliver nursing care so that they can ensure high quality safe care. for exammple nurses competent in patient centered care would document patient pain and formulates pain management plans accordingly. But nurse who use the competancy to evaluate patient centered care on a system level would participate in medical record review of their units pain management to see if the meeting standards and improving in quality.
