What do you think is the biggest health concern for college students today? Explain your answer.
The major health issues of college students are sexual health, nutrition problems, low Physical Activity, mental health, substance abuse, accidents and injuries and health care etc...
Sexual health:
According to the several health care researches states 86% of adult college boys and 72 % of adult college girls have engaged in sexual intercourse by age 21. Unintended pregnancy, serious health risks and STD transmission diseases chances, and worry over these problems are the daily fare of college health centers. A teen mother cannot complete her school as learning work skill with care of a child together is not manageable for her.
Alcohol Use: It is the one of the most important health problem for college students. Alcohol consumption was mainly causing two thirds of all academic problems, emotional difficulties, physical injuries and violent behavior on college campuses. Besides motor vehicle accidents, alcohol abuse is closely related to other social and health problems of college students.
Tobacco and Other Drugs:
Daily cigarette usage of college students is low when compared with other aged people. Other drug use among college students tends to be lower than among their same age peers. Among college students consumption of oral contraceptives and tobacco in this age group can leads to develop cancer and heart diseases.
Nutrition and Physical Activity:
Physical activity and dietary habits are primary risk factor areas subject to change during the college years and these health care habits keep them at high risk for the development of many chronic diseases like osteoporosis, cancer and cardiovascular disease.
