"How vulnerable do you think your health is to environmental stressors? Do you think that your physical response to stress has anything to do with your age? Your genes? Your personality? Your daily behaviors? Explain."
Stress is one of the most important aspects of human life and a certain amount of stressors would keep people on their toes by making them alert and active. However, when the level of stress becomes intolerant, people would develop physical, emotional and social dysfunctions. This would mean that the stressors in the environment in various forms such as, relationship, financial, role related etc. at different places such as, home, workplace and society would have a huge impact on the regular functioning of people. However, they all need not occur together but stress in even anyone area would affect people to a great extent thus, would continue to impact the other areas. However, handling and coping with stress would differ depending on age, gender and even people’s personality. As people age, they would develop a better coping strategy to cope with the stress while it would also depend on the type of personality and the positive attitude people have. When people are optimistic and have a positive worldview, they would develop positive coping strategies but people who view the world and its events negatively would end-up in negative coping strategies. Apart from these, the familial support, social facilities and financial status of people would also play a major role in buiding resiliency and building coping strategies.
