#. Role of nurse :-
Home Health Care:RNs use remote patient monitoring and videoconferencing to monitor, education, and support patients with chronic illness (diabetes, heart failure, COPD).
Long Term Care Settings:Health specialists such as WCONs, infection control specialists, and APRNs provide telehealth consultations.
Ambulatory Care: RN performs telephone triage. RN presents patients to a distant health care specialists.
Emergency Settings: Experienced trauma RNs or APRNs provide consults for stroke and trauma care.
Prison Settings: APRNs provide mental health services.
ICU Monitoring:ICU RNs make virtual rounds on patients in remote ICUs through an elaborate network of cameras, monitors, and two-way communication links.
Operationalizing Telemedicine sessions - steps for success:
1.Planning- needs assessment and analysis to define patient populations and healthcare problems in which telehealth can have a positive impact
2.Work environment with prepared staff using standards and guidelines
3.Technology preparedness- user-friendly technology that enables quality clinical decision making and responsive & accessible
