1. How might the trend towards aging in place and the creation of livable communities impact the design of long-term care facilities? Explain.
2. What regulatory concerns should future administrators consider when adopting design innovations? Explain.
Ageing is a global phenomenon.one of the greatest achievements of medical field is increase in the population of age group 80 .The current trend is the increase in longevity that is 30 years were added to the life expectancy. The victories against infectious diseases and parasite disease are a triumph for public health projects which immunized millions of people against smallpox, polio.More nutritious diet and better drinking facilities reduced the mortality rate significantly.Health systems need better data to understand the health risks faced by older people and to target appropriate prevention and intervention strategies.
Many of the oldest people lose their ability to live independently because of limited mobility, fraility or other declines in physical or cognitive functioning. Most aged people requires some form of long term care which include homenursing, community nursing or assisted living. The future need for long-term care services will largely be determined by changes in the absolute number of people in the oldest age groups coupled with trends in disability rate. The disability in elderly persons have been reduced subsequently and thhere are many factors contributing to it .one such is the biomedical innovations and increasing educational and economic status among the elderly. The cost effectiveness of support groups is another factor.
2 Inorder to raise the life expectany, quality of life, dignostic and reatment optins health care industry has launched a proliferation of innovations.Innovations is one of the driving force in health care.Health care always depended onpaper work for recording patient history.it is also prone to costly errors. With the advent of lectronic record keeping things became much easier ,especially when it comes to sharing of information of patient history ,which is vital indeterming a disease condition. Some of the regulatory concerns facing the health care industry are breachingin security and patient privacy privacy .The area which needs focus while adopting design innovations are nursing shortae, patient satisfaction, patient safety, efficiency and effectiveness.Innovation designers rarely tap into the knowledge generated by health services researchers while health service researchers often fail to provide key insightabout the comparative value of emergng innovations ,such as their significance within the broader universe of desirable health care interventions.
