How would you describe your social competence as a young child?

Social competence refers to a person's ability to get along with other people. in my case i have bad amount of social competence. social competence is seen through the following characters like positivity , showing interest in others ,showing sympathy or empathy ,no feeling of lonely etc.

Did it change over middle childhood?

during middlehood social comeptence had increased gradually due greater to peer interaction. latter on i Can easily set up non verbal communication with others like smiling, nodding, laughing . i become effective member of many groups in school. being leader of the class has help me to deal with many type of people.

Were you a high or a low status child then? Did you play predominantly with high or low status children?

i enjoy a middle status in school and my friends were mostly from middle status and i have few high status and low status friends also .

the popular child shares same characteristics as mentioned in the texts like :

they have great empathy towards others , they can use emotions very well , very helpful , very confident , very much active in all school activites and in class studies as well , very caring, respectful to elders , maintain great freindships , couteous , admmiring and inspirational .
