Making mixture solution:
Cupric nitrate : wt = 241.60 g/mol
SMS : wt= 250.278 g/mol
I want to make the mixture of solution that has cupric nitrate constant concentration at 10E-5 M, but SMS concentration will run from 0 to 10E-4M
So please help me make like 6 mixture solutions that have same concentration of cupric nitrate and SMS concentration run in that range. Thank you. Please show step by step
TO MAKE 10-5 M CUPRIC NITRATE AMOUNT OF CUPRIC NITRATE REQUIRED PER LITRE OF SOLUTION
Molarity = Mass added / Molar mass volume of solution (in L)
10-5 = Mass added / 241.6 1
Mass added = 0.002416 g
FIRST MAKE A 1L STOCK SOLUTION OF CUPRIC NITRATE BY DISSOLVING 0.002416 g IN WATER AND U CAN TAKE 10 ml aliquotes from this for your mixture.
For ur 6 mixtures u can take concentration of SMS as 0,10-1, 5 10-1,10-2,10-3 and 10-4
Using the above formula for molarity you can prepare 100ml solutions of SMS for each concentration.
Calculations involved are:
10-1 M
10-1 = Mass added / 250.27 .1
Mass of SMS added = 2.5027 g
5 10-1 M
5 10-1 = Mass added / 250.27 .1
Mass of SMS added = 12.5135 g
10-2 M
10-2 = Mass added / 250.27 .1
Mass of SMS added = 0.250 g
10-3 M
10-3 = Mass added / 250.27 .1
Mass of SMS added = 0.025027 g
10-4 M
10-4 = Mass added / 250.27 .1
Mass of SMS added = 0.0025027 g
YOUR MIXTURES WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:
1. 10 ml 10-5 M cupric nitrate
2. 10 ml 10-5 M cupric nitrate + 10 ml 10-1 M SMS solution
3.10 ml 10-5 M cupric nitrate + 10 ml 5 10-1 M SMS
4. 10 ml 10-5 M cupric nitrate+ 10 ml 10-2 M SMS
5. 10 ml 10-5 M cupric nitrate + 10 ml 10-3 M SMS
6. 10 ml 10-5 M cupric nitrate + 10 ml 10-4 M SMS
