Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome.
Jane 42 yr old who was a widow with two kids ,who is employed part time and taking care of her hemiplegic father.She had past history of depression due to sudden demise of her husband before 6years.She was prescribed with antidepressants and counselling sessions were adviced.She make frequent visit to her nurse but now she complaints of feeling constantly worried and tensed about future of her children . She says that she is always having been a ‘worrier’ but her anxiety has become much worse in the past 6months since her kids became unwell, and she no longer feels that she can control these thoughts. Jane feels like something is in her stomach , her heart races and sometimes she experiences shortness of breath.. Her sleep is poor with difficulty getting off to sleep due to worrying and frequent wakening. She feels fatigued and numbness in her left hand.She also has dry mouth always.
Three pertinent medications are prozac,citalopram,alprazolam
Every individual is unique and has their own problems . Jane is a single mother who is taking care of her kids and father .The earning of her is inadequate for taking care of kids and her hemiplegic father.This is the reason she is anxious and worried thinking she cannot afford better amenities for them.
Relaxation therapy is effective intervention along with medications.
Yoga, physical activity , acupressure are stress reduction techniques
