If an echo is not received within the receiving time of a radar, what should be done to receive the echo? Discuss all possible cases.
If an echo is not recieved within the recieving time of the readar there can be plenty of reasons for the same. to fix the problem we can assess the situation and do one / or more than one of the following :
a. We can increase the power of the radar because it is possible
that the reflective surface of the target is higly absorbing
causing the retuning signal to become weaker
than the ambient noise and hence the signal is not recieved
b. We can increase the wavelength of the radar waves as longer
waves travel longer before getting scattered by atmosphere and
hence longer radar
wavelengths shall get scattered less and have higher percentage of
power in recieved signal which will help to identify the recieved
signal from the ambient noise
c. If increasing the wavelength does not work, we can try
decreasing it (changing the frequcny this time) because it is
possible that the reflecting sirface of the
target is absorbent to some frequencies of em waves and hence we
can try to fix the object at some other frequency which is not
absorbed by the target object
d. We can tinker with sampling rate of the radar and the angular
direction of the reciever / transmitter to lock on to the
target.
