Question 5 What role do you think EARCONs plan in applications?
Question 6 Would you like the EARCON to tell you more information than things like "Yes you got your ordering basket loaded correctly" such as maybe "What a great section of --- product " etc.
Question 7 What innovations would you like to see in EARCONS?
1. I haven't customized any unique earcons on my phone.
2. Yes, it would be good if the different sound is there if our
phone is busy. Other than saying through dialogue, it would be more
effective there is a separate earcon for it. It would be more
effortless to recognize it and would take less time to understand
whether the receiver is busy or not.
3. I don't like anything else, other than the beep sound indicating
that I'm busy at the moment. I think the beep sound is more
convenient than anything else.
4. I don't want them any distinguishing sound that conveys anything
specific other than I'm busy at the moment. Earcons are meant for
easy recognition of alerts. In this context, it becomes more
unreliable and lacks the smoothness it generally provides.
5. I think the role of earcons in the application is to customize
the sound to convey specific alerts and errors that seek attention
for the users.
6. Yes, I would like earcons to tell more information than it is
being mentioned in the statement. It could effectively alert the
user when he/she isn't near to the device. It could come in hand by
conveying messages emotionally, which gives more impact.
7. Earcons could give a far more clear and distinguishable message
to the users than any dialogue delivery by the system. The
innovation must be the use of more earcons that could be recognized
by the user in terms of which program has given the message. The
challenge is to give awareness to the users and acknowledging
him/her to distinguish each earcon and analyze what it conveys in
each situation.
