Proline |
Amino acids are the monomers that are linked by the peptide bonding to form a polypeptide and many polypeptides join to form a protein. A protein is an organic molecule that is present in every living organism. For example- the keratin protein in hair, myosin protein in muscles, hemoglobin, etc.
The amino acids are classified as nonessential and essential amino acids. Furthermore, amino acids can be differentiated as hydrophobic and hydrophilic amino acids on the basis of their physicochemical nature. The polarity of the amino acids decides whether they belong to hydrophobic amino acids or hydrophilic amino acids.
The polar amino acids are hydrophilic in nature and nonpolar amino acids are hydrophobic in nature. Here, all the amino acids (Alanine, Glycine, and Proline) are hydrophobic except Serine.
Serine is a hydroxyl amino acid and is considered hydrophilic due to its capacity of hydrogen bonding as it contains a hydroxyl group.
Hence, Serine is the correct answer.
