Cytomegalo virus is a highly contagious disease that usually spread throug body fluids and immediate contact between infected persons.The virus can cause serious health issues in newborn babies and older childrens.

Cytomegalo virus is a serious virus which can cause serious health issues in a new born. Congenital cytomegalo virus infection is one, the child is acquiring at the time of birth.Here the infected pregnant mothers can spread the disease to their unborn chil. The virus can affect the people who are having less immunity, hence childrens are at high risk. The cytomegalo virus usaully spread through the body fluids like urine, saliva, and breast milk etc. Usually the new born babies can develop this disease from infected mothers during the time of breast feeding. Apart from that the infection can also spread through direct contact between the infected mother and the child.

The symptoms of congenital cytomegalo virus can be seen among the newborn babies. They includes,feeding difficulties, irritability, frequent cry,low weight at the time of birth, rashes over the body, failure to thrive,vision problems if the virus attack the eyes, some childrens may have seizures, if the CNS is involved. And in most of the new born babies, they may have hearing problems.Apart from that symptoms of pneumonia, neuurological impairements are also seen in infected babies. The symptoms of congenital cytomegalo virus will exist in child for life long. No treatment will be effective.If the disease is developing in older healthy childrens, usaully they remain asymptomatic for few days and later the manifestations of fever begins.

The cyto megalo virus infection can be treated effectively with anti viral drugs. preventive measures to be taken by all pregnanat mothers by proper hand washing techniques.
