NORWAY ROYAL PALACE
The Royal Palace is one of the country's most important buildings.It is situated on a rise the Bellevue ,at the one end of Oslo's main thoroughfare ,Karl Johan's gate.
Tangible Aspects
1) There are 173 rooms in the palace and it is surrounded by the palace park with the palace square in the front.
2) The royal palace is built in Neo Classical style with the facade of stuccoed brick.The building has two wings and it is three storey high.
3) The reception rooms at the Royal Palace reflect the various interior styles that were fashionable during the 25 yearsit took to build the palace.
4) Most days of the year ,the flag of His Majesty The King ,the Royal Standard of Norway flies over the Royal Palace.
5) The palace features grassy area, majestic trees and beautiful ponds.It is a very elegant building , sitting on the top of a hill providing great view of central oslo.
Intangible Aspects
1) The royal palace was built as a residence for king Carl Johan ,but was not completed until after his death.
2) The palace commenced in 1824,the foundation stone was laid by King Johan on 1 st October ,1825, it is a symbol of the course of Norwegian history
3) The Crown Prince resides at Skauum in Asker west of Oslo while the palace is the official residence of current Norwegian Monarch.
4) The palace was officially taken into use on 26 th July 1849 by King Oscar while the foundation stone was laid in 1825.
5) The palace park was designed as a Romantic landscape and was designed by German Romantic gardens of the 1840's.The palace was designed by architects Hans Ditlev and Franciscus Linstow.
