Essay Topic: Impact of Coronavirus

Please discuss the recent pandemic COVID-19, aka the coronavirus. First give intel on the whole pandemic, explaining the root of the virus and how it got its way into the US, based on the updated news. Then talk about the various factors of the pandemic including the effects of it nationwide, especially the United States. Then organize the concerns into categories of food, economy, politics, race, and inequality. Explain each topic under the current pandemic.

Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that can cause disease in both animals and humans. SARS-CoV ( Severe acute respiratory disease) is an example of a coronavirus that spread rapidly in 2002- 2003 in China. The new strain of coronavirus is called SARS-CoV-2 i.e Severe acute respiratory syndrome which causes COVID-19 disease. There is currently no cure for this disease. People with underlying health issues such a diabetes , high blood pressure or any other autoimmine disease are at the greater risk of catching this disease. COVID-19 is the official name given by World health organisation. The outbreak of new virus appears to have started from Wuhan's seafood market where a number of wild animals, including birds,bats,rabbits, exotic species of snakes, are traded. Wuhan is a city located in hubei province of China. The new virus has spread to many parts of the globe and on 11th of march, WHO declared it a PANDEMIC.

On 21st of January, The first case of novel coronavirus in U.S was seen in a 30-year old man from washington state who had travelled to wuhan. On 26th feburary, CDC( centres for disease control and prevention) confirmed the first case of local transmission in a man from california who had neither travelled to any Covid-19 outreak area nor came in contact with any person diagnosed with this new virus. On 13th of march U.S president Donald Trump declared a national emergency. On 7th april, A tiger named "NADIA" from new york's Bronx zoo tested positive. Now, there are more than 870000 confirmed cases of covid-19 in the U.S with more than 49000 deaths which is the highest in the world.

According to an analysis of United nations department of economic and social affairs, the world economy could shrink to 1% in 2020 due to the devastating effects of covid -19. Covid -19 has a direct impact on economy, financial markets, food supply, demand ,businesses and on international trade. People are afraid of catching the virus and thats why they are buying fewer products which means less travel and less eating out. Air travel, hotels and food chains are likely to suffer huge losses. Shuttering restaurants, shoping malls and other businesses have increased the umemployment rate with over 10 millions workers losing their jobs.The international politics has taken a new turn during this pandemic with countries helping each other and showing solidarity to defeat this pandemic. India is set to help U.S and other neighbouring countries which have been badly affected by covid -19  by supplying " hydroxychloroquine( which is an anti- Malaria drug) given to health workers treating covid- 19 Patients.
