Expert Solution

In the last decade, surgical robots have literally transformed the way doctors operate and how quickly patients recover

PURPOSE AND BENEFITS OF SURGICAL ROBOTS

it is minimally invasive

In robotic surgery surgeons donot need to use their hands to directly access the body ,incisions are smaller than with conventional surgery .The robotic arms also filter out tremors in the surgeon's hands to reduce the chance of inadvertent nicks or punctures that can cause bleeding and infections  robotic surgery is a great option for patients who needs a procedure in hard to reach areas [major blood vessels or other vital organs may be nearby ] of the body .

fast recovery

As it is minimally invasive body take only less time to recover than with traditional surgery. In such a case patient will save on the typically high costs that come with an inpatient hospital stay and get back to normal life more quickly.Because their is less trauma to the body ,patient  will also experience less scarring as recover fast

less pain and blood loss

With smaller incisions and better precision, patient will experience less pain during and after surgery.Patient will also be less dependent on pain killers during recovery, reducing the risk of addiction.Blood loss during robotic surgery is min imal so it reduces the need of blood transfusions. In other surgeriesl, blood loss can cause complications and result in even longer recovery time.

Smaller chance of infection

The risk of infection exists with any surgical procedure which can, delay recovery and keep patients in the hospital longer. Some areas of the body have a higher chance of infection than others particulary when large parts of the body are exposed due to long incisions.Because robotic less invasive, however, the risk of developing infection is reduced so patients avoid the potential complecations that come with infection.

PURPOSE OF ROBOTIC SURGERY

1)Allows doctors to perform many types of complex procedures with more precision.

2)In Robotic surgery ensures flexibility and control than is possible with conventional techniques.

1)Tiny incisions-The Robot improves surgical outcomes and  boost patients safety by enabling the surgeon to use tiny incisions and to achieve unmatched precision.

LIMITATIONS OF ROBOTIC SURGERY

1)Mechanical failure-In Robotic surgery system components such as Robotic arm, camera,Robotic tower, binocular lenses and instruments can fail.

2)Accidental burn injuries -In Robotic surgery there is a chance of accidental burn injuries because Robotic arm can be mis applied to surrounding tissues resulting in accidental burn injuries.

3)Robot assisted surgery can cause nerve palsies due to extreme body positioning or direct nerve compression that may occure when using Robots.

4)In case of less experienced surgeons surgery may long than non robotic surgery.

Robotic surgery is classified  as an active system (which perform the procedure under human supervision)
