Parenting style and upbringing of the children has a lot to do with their future. Be it studying hard for getting good grades in the school and college to become successful to development of habits, a lot is influenced by parents. The conditions at home and what the children see from their young age tends to shape their habits. It is important as a parent to make sure the kids are raised with good values and virtues so that they implement the same in positive manner. The parents must be aware of what is going on in the lives of their children and be more sensitive to their problems, understand things and be supportive.
In this research, it can be done by categorizing and understanding more about independent and dependable variable and continue the research. In this the dependent variable is behavioral growth and development of children and independent variable is parental style. At times even when the parents teach the right things to the children, despite that the children tend to fall into bad habits due to circumstances and wrong company. The dependent variable depends on the independent variable which means that the pattern or child growth depends on the parental style. It is found that children always look up to their parents and tend to walk on their footstep. Hence, the grades and substance abuse can be directly influenced by the home environment.
The first research is about how the parenting style can impact education and grades. When parents can educate and teach their kids the importance of education, they end up studying harder and get good grades. The mental health of the child depends on the upbringing and when children are from a family of good careers and academically influential, they tend to end up doing good in school. The more cognitive skills the children develop, they help in developing better academic skills. In families with history of substance abuse and alcoholism the children tend to get more inclined towards substance. However, even in families with no record of substance, the children might still be involved with substance. However, when it comes to second year, it is mostly due to peer pressure and group that leads to increase in substance. In families, when parents are not able to dedicate time to children, they tend to get distracted and might end up with more substance abuse due to peer group.
