In what way does mental health impact both health and the discipline of public health? Define and apply mental health as a framework for the study of a population
THE ROLE OF HEALTH AND PUBLIC HEALTH IN MENTAL HEALTH:
a) Mental health is an integral part to overall health and well-being and should be treated equally with the public health. b) Mental illness can influence the onset, progression and outcome of other illnesses and often correlates with health risk behaviors such as abuse, tobacco use and physical inactivity. c) the challenges of mental health is to identify the diseases and their risk factors, which helps to increase the awareness in patients with mental disorders and increases the effectiveness of treatment. d) they both helps to increase the coordination of care e) public health helps to safeguard mental health thereby supporting the efforts of other health agencies through continued surveillance initiatives. f)public health helps to prioritize and advance the mental health to support the promotion of menatl wellbeing and the primary prevention of mental ill health.

A POPULATION FRAMEWORK FOR THE STUDY OF A MENTAL HEALTH: Dealing with mental helath problems in among a group of population is a challenging factor for the service providers. The combined risk factors of problems like poverty, violence, peer rejection, unemployment, unsupported parenthood tend to have a negative effect on their mental health. However, protection against these by increasing control and social support can decrease the risk factors on mental health. Inaddition to this, coordinated efforts in communities is neeed to enhance mental health of individuals, the public and the private sector. Further coordinated effort to maintain mental health and well-being need to be monitored carefully to ensure better health outcomes.
