Mental illness is prevalent in college students and is commonly seen and treated in the office of primary care provider. Educational experience in mental health are designed to provide residents with an opportunity to evaluate and treat patient with mental disorder, behavioral issues and stress related problems that manifest as primary disorders or exerbate underlying medical condition. The education will take place in outpatient setting. The focus will be on identifying risk factor for early diagnosis, managing chronic common psychiatric illness, recognizing warning sign for serious pshycitric morbidity such as, suicide and undestanding indication for referral to a psychiatrist. Residents will be able to identifying signs of underlying medical organic disorders , learn an appropriate diagnostic work up develop basic skill in counselling and modification behaviour and understand initial pharmacological management of psychiatric disease.
