Hospitals are unable to directly charge for nursing services provided by nurses without advanced practice degrees. This makes it very difficult for healthcare organization to determine the value of nursing care. Could this concept be changing? Discuss the following questions: Is there a relationship between nursing care provided at the bedside and hospital reimbursement under value-based purchasing and IPPS systems? Can it be measured? If yes, how? If no, why not. Is there a business case for improving nursing staffing at the bedside based on potential reimbursement for IPPS measures? If yes, describe your business case. If no, why not?
According to me their is very strong
interlinked relationship between nursing care provided at a bedside
and hospital reimbursement as nursing is the basic core part of
patient care and nurses are the face of this real time patient
care. Nurses are the largest proportion of healthcare industry
which are involved in patient centric care taking as they are
directly connected with the patient.
The reimbursements under value based purchasing are measured as
these are primary needs of any healthcare seeking service and
should be considered into account while reimbursement of total
finances spent on health issues. Their should be a bussiness model
which could cover the bedside nursing care and should be involved
for potential reimbursement of IPPS System. That is minimum fixed
amount to be decided for nursing care of bedside patients and it
should be included in reimbursement claims for every single day
care of patient to improve the patient centric approach of
healthcare sector and also to boost the nursing sector as it is
basic function of heathcare division.
