How does anaerobic metabolism play a role in poor oral health?
Organic acids cause enamel demineralization and dentine. These organic acids are produced in dental plaque by the bacterias.
Anaerobic metabolism play a role in poor oral health. This is because of anaerobic metabolism derivative of sugar from the diet. Consuming raised carbohydrates or Sugars leads to the decrease in dental plaque pH. It is produced by organic acids and it is responsible for the increase in the dental hard tissues solubility. It results in the demineralization due to the loss of Calcium.
Caries which are referred as cavities or holes in teeth are created by bacteria and sugars. Impact of this caries are due to the tooth sensitivity, small extent of fluoride, Saliva's Quality and Quantity, Sugar Conuming recurrance and Bacterial layout.
