What are LDL particles?
How do liver cells bring LDL into the cell and what role does LDLR play in process?
What is familial hypercholesterolemia (FH)?
LDL ( low density lipoprotein ) particles composed of multiple proteins, contains fat molecules with cholesterol, phospholipids, and triglycerides.
LDL receptors are on the outside of many different cells.LDL receptors keep the amount of cholesterol in the blood at a normal level. LDL (bad cholesterol) circulate through the body, the LDL receptors pick them up and get into the cell. Many of our LDL receptors are found in the liver. The liver work hard to get rid of unneeded cholesterol.
Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is an inherited disorder causes high level of LDLs to be present in the body and is a disorder that is often caused by a mutated LDL receptor gene.
