what VLDL are and what they transport? LDL, know what they transport? HDL, know what they transport?
VLDL -very low density lipoprotein- It enables fats (triglycerides and phospholipids) and cholesterol to move with in the blood stream and acts as internal transport mechanism for fats. Also acts as transporter of hydrophobic intracellular messengers. At higher levels, It is also harmful to the body since it is composed of triglycerides which has low density than LDL. It also relates to cardiovascular damage.
LDL - low density lipoprotein- It is a cholesterol transporter which carries cholesterol from liver to other body cells. It is damaging to cardiovascular system. It accumulates on arterial walls, which makes them stiff and causes blood clots. It increases blood pressure.
HDL is High density lipoprotein also called as good cholesterol which is beneficial to heart. It transports LDL and VLDL to liver from the body and helps in elimination. It also inhibits oxidation of LDL attached to the endothelium.
