Select a specific healthcare organization that you know something about. If you are or have been employed in health care, use your employing organization. (Whether the example consists of your organization or another, there is no need to specifically identify it.) For your chosen organization: PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL
1. Write a mission statement for the organization—a concise yet appropriately descriptive of why the organization exists.
2. Consistent with the organization’s mission as expressed in this mission statement, develop a statement of philosophy for your department.
3. Write one major policy that supports this philosophy.
4. Write two or three specific procedures that express aspects of the policy from Question 3 as instructions for action (keeping in mind that a policy is ordinarily a statement of what is to be done, and a procedure consists of how it should be done).

The Mission of Paediatric Hospital is to provide compassionate, accessible, high quality, cost effective healthcare to the community; to promote health; to educate healthcare professionals; and to participate in appropriate clinical research.
2. Consistent with the organization’s mission as expressed in this mission statement, develop a statement of philosophy for your department.
Answer:
We believe that a strong patient/physician relationship is at the heart of good health care. We also recognize that part of that relationship is making sure that our patients' needs, and expectations.
We believes in the harmony of all the good points of all the philosophies so as to create a flexible & adaptable health care delivery system through this paediatric hospital. We believe in the WHO definition of Health.
Health is a state of well-being that enables a person to lead a psychologically, socially and economically productive life. Health is a right of all the people. Individuals, families and communities have a responsibility towards maintaining their health.
It aims at identifying health needs of the people, planning and providing quality care in collaboration with other health care professional and community groups.

Policies are rules, guidelines and principles that communicate an organisation’s culture, values and philosophies .
Policies include:
Employee entitlement and what they can expect from the organisation;
What the organisation expects from their employees;
What consumers and the community can expect from the organisation.

Answer: Procedures provide step-by-step instructions for routine tasks. They should also allocate people to be responsible for certain tasks

Policies and procedures are fundamental for consistency across an organisation, for both staff and consumers. They guide the organisation, influencing and determining all major decisions and actions, and reduce liability risks.
