1. How many mg of fluconazole are contained in 300 mL of a 0.4% solution?
2. How many mL of a 20% magnesium sulfate solution will contain 14 grams of magnesium sulfate?
3.The label on a 30 mL aminophylline vial indicates a strength of 500 mg/20 mL. How many mL of aminophylline would contain 225 mg of the drug?
1. How many mg of fluconazole are contained in 300 mL of a 0.4% solution?
0.4 % means 0.4 g in 100mL
0.4% = 0.4 g in 100 mL
100 mL = 0.4 g
300 mL=( 0.4/100)×300=1.2 g
300mL =(0.4÷100)×300=1.2g
=1.2×1000=1200mg. (1g =1000mg)
2. How many mL of a 20% magnesium sulfate solution will contain 14 grams of magnesium sulfate?
20% magnesiumsulphate means 20 g in 100mL of Solution.
20 g = 100 mL
14 g=( 100/20)×14=70mL
3.The label on a 30 mL aminophylline vial indicates a strength of 500 mg/20 mL. How many mL of aminophylline would contain 225 mg of the drug.
500 mg in 20 mL
1 mg in 20/500mL
225 mg in ( 20/50)×225 mL= 90mL
