How many mL would you give q8h?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Desired dose (D) : 200mg, 8th hourly

Dose in hand (H) : 300 mg in 2ml

Volume (V) = 8ml

Therefore, 1 vial of Cimetidine contains 8ml

8 ml has 1200 mg i.e., 2ml x 4 = 8ml

300mg x 4 = 1200mg

Find out how much ml of dose can be given to patient 8th hourly

Formula :

Dose = D / H X V

Dose = 200mg / 1200mg X 8ml

Dose = 1.3 ml

Answer is 1.3 ml (200mg) of Cimetidine should be given 8th hourly
