During the pandemic of 2020, there has been a public health crisis because of the unwillingness of a good number of people to wear masks and comply with social distancing guidelines. Use a moral theory and/or moral principles to make an argument for why people should comply with the mitigation guidelines and wear a mask and social distance.
Answer- The moral theory that I have taken is utilitarianism and this theory says that any action can be determined as right or wrong by its outcome. If the outcome of that action is good then the action will be considered good. If the outcome is negative then the action will be considered bad.
Similarly, in COVID-19 also we have to wear masks and maintain social distance because the consequences of these actions is positive and thus these actions are considered good.
Everyone should wear masks and maintain social distance because by doing these things we would stay away from the illness of corona. If people do not wear masks and do not maintain a social distance then they will invite the corona illness.
People should comply with the mitigation guidelines and wear masks and keep social distancing so that they can make some positive results. This will lead to a great happiness of a large number of people because then the crisis will go down.
If people do not follow the guidelines then it will lead to a problenatic situation in the country. It will cause more deaths of people. It will lead to unhappiness. Thus, it will contradict the utilitarianism theory.
