Examples of how the Callista Roy's theory applies to nursing?
Callista Roy's theory is one of the famous Adaptation model theory which is used in nursing. This theory applies to the nursing in the following way
Example
Biological : This is the relationship between the physical nature of an individual to the environment they live
An individual who is deprived of food ,lacks adequate nutrition in diet definitely will not be able to survive the external environment changes and leading to illness
Nurse has to identify the basic needs of the clients are met ,so that they don't suffer biologically
For instance due to poor nutrition (considered to be physical health ) will not be able to tolerate any change in temperature (heat or cold -environment ) As a result illness occurs.
Psychological :The health of an individual is based on the cognition ,perception ,continuity in growth ,emotional status etc. , can determine it
Example
An individual who is highly stressed or depressd will not be able to maintain a normal relationship with others in the environment making them sick
If there is an impairment in the family support for an individual it will automatically upset the individual and lead to illness.
Nurse has to educate the family members ,create awareness ,make regular follow up for a clients healthy psychological status
Social :The relationship of an individual which is established with the society
Always individual tend to be attention seeking and be a outstanding performer or a person from others and strive to work towards it in the society
The nurse has to identify the interrelationship of the family with the society during their happiness and sadness or in all circumstances.
