Utilitarianism is the concept based on moral advocates actions depends on promotion of overall happiness or pleasure. It rejects the actions which cause harm or unhappiness. It helps in attaining betterment of social, economic, or political decisions by placing the locus of right and wrong solely on consequences. Three major principles of utilitarianism are:
The most intrinsic value given to pleasure or happiness.
Actions are right insofar if they promote happiness, otherwise, wrong.
Happiness of everyone counts equally.
It is stated that the utilitarianism and natural law theory is not adversarial. But when it concerned to nature, the environmental ethicists defined in a way that treats utilitarian environmental ethics as an oxymoron since they focus only on the limitations of the utilitarianism.
There are various disadvantages have been discussed globally so far regarding the utilitarianism which includes that the concept focus on the result of choice instead the act. No moral judgement on the actions. The major disadvantage is ppointed that it sometimes requires/permits sacrifices to make other happier.
