Poor communication causes various negative outcomes in health care practice. effective communication among health care professionals cause quality patient care, job satisfaction, and promote patient safety and positive health outcome. The health care system faces a lot of challenges due to the lack of effective communication among staff and patients.
example:
poor communication among staffs for sharing information about the patient when they are critically ill with various intervention, diagnosis, it causes medical error and malpractice when we handle the patient without knowing the exact history about them. ineffective communication among staff cause poor patient satisfaction, lack of trust and cause liability, unethical practice, and high-stress condition.
effective communication improves patient experience and improves the level of empathy, clarity. so health care staff communication skills are important. proper training for staffs for interdisciplinary approach enhance quality care. nurses' communication provides the best care and outcome for patients and improves health care, nurse job satisfaction, quality care, and safety for the patient. team members from different disciplines with an interdisciplinary approach and working collaboration with a common purpose, sharing information, decision making, and responsibility enhance patient safety and satisfaction. example: when older patients admitting in the ward with the different diagnoses they need complex needs physically and mentally. the interdisciplinary approach deals with complex multimorbidity, social, and psychological issues. it needs a collaborative approach to involve patient care. it avoids risk and benefit patient with various needs. it also provides more comprehensive and holistic care.
