5G is the latest wireless technology and it is said to revolutionize the way we will be connected. The debate which has arisen is that it will require a lot of energy generation – with pollution levels rising how can this technology be justified using a Utilitarian rule approach
5G or The fifth generation of wireless Technology. It is the wave of wireless technology that surpasses the 4G network which is currently in use.The whole aim of the new 5G network is to allow for more devices to be used by the consumer at faster rates than ever before, because of this goal there will certainly be an increase in energy usage globally. The change from using radio waves to using millimeter waves and the new use of small cells in 5G will allow more devices to be used and manufactured, more energy to be used.
Justification to this Technology can be given on the basis of Consequentialism that is using the Utilitarian rule approach.
While it's true that 5G requires more power, there is no reason not to use Greener energy. The Natural form of Energy will also have less impact on Enviroment and help in better revolutionization of Technology.without casuing pollution.
1. The Dominating communication technology of 5G will also give rise to newer technologies or methods to get energy in a sustainable manner. Just like the Starlink and Blue Origin are in race of developing global network by launching satellites that will be powered by energy from the sun (solar energy).
2. If 5G really takes off then more energy usage is inevitable but it is likely to be offset by more virtual meetings and less travel. Half a dozen people each travelling 100 miles to meet will use much more power than a video link over 5G.
3. Following the utilitarian Rule approach the outcomes of 5G technology like Faster data transfer rates, Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things(IOT) will play a major role towards increasing productivity with the use of Renewable Sources of Energy.
