Fluoxetine is a medication is classified as the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and used to treat depression. Always follow the instructions given by nurse or physician.
The instructions include are -- 1 . Keep taking this medication even if you don't feel it is helpful because it takes a time to show its effects.
2. Migrane drugs like triptans is contraindicated while taking antidepressant medication because it might cause serotonine syndrome.
3 .The client should take fluoxetine first thing in the morning to reduce the risk of insomnia.
4. Patients may experience decreased sex drive while taking medication.
5. Fluoxetine can be taken with or without food.
6.Take fluoxetine around the same time everyday.
7. The patients should avoid sudden stopage of fluoxetine drug , as suddenly stopping can cause such as headache, nausea , tremor, difficult in sleep , anxiety , and dizziness.
