Caregivers play a vital role in caring for functionally impaired persons. Caregivers have to support the persons in their activities rather than control them. Establish a trust and provide safety and guidance to the person and the family members. support the persons physically and emotionally and alleviate the symptoms of fear, anxiety, loneliness. Try to increase the self-confidence and give time to express their feelings. Encourage them to do daily care activities and involved them in activities or hobbies, playing chess, and other recreational activities. Empower the persons to make decisions of their own which further improve the independent. Promote social participation and communication to improve their capacities. Offers education program to develop the skills and knowledge. Encourage the family members to promote a positive environment for the impaired persons.
Encourage to perform tasks and supervise the activities of dressing, bathing, feeding to promote an optimum independence and improve the quality of life. Provide counseling for the change in behavior and mental stress. Provide physical therapy and rehabilitation technique to improve the quality of life. Identify the risk factors for fall, social problems and promote well-being. Develop a plan for an independent lifestyle.
