How to promote health for people with disabilities?

Health promotion depends on type of disability but there is some common intervention :

1) PHYSICAL INTERVENTION :

- appropriate excercise therapy for joint movements

- restoring function of affected part by physiotraining

- provision external appliances and splint .

- relief of pain by hot and cold formulation.

- bladder and bowel excercise to control incontinence .

- training in daily activities to restore lost function .

- education of patients to maintain the physical status and returning to normal life.

2) PSYCHO- SOCIAL INTERVENTION

- to raise the moral of patient , counseling , positive attitude and support .

- sympathetic attitude of doctors , family members , and the community support .

- psychotherapy for depression , anxiety, personality changes and suicidal tendency .

- financial support , work place support to raise the morale and take away depression.

3. EDUCATIONAL INTERVENTION

- effort to be made to continue the education

- Integrated education for disabled child in normal school

- speech and language special trainings.

- orientation and mobility training for blinds.

- day to day living and practice training. And skill development .

4.)4.DISABILI FRIENDLY INFRASTRUCTURE

- ramps with guards at entrance

- all stair cases must have side rails , disable friendly lift and toilet .

- adequate number of wheel chairs for their movements .

5) VOCATIONAL INTERVENTION

- Efforts be made to promote voactional training earning according to level of disability .

- explore the type and extant of vocational training suits to the level of disability

- person should be caring , supportive and sympathetic in assisting the disabled .

- hearing aids and chochlear device fo hearing impairment.

- visual : white canes , magnifiers , ocular device , talking books

Cognitive : day calendar with symbol pictures .
