Situation
Levels of children and young people diagnosed with type 1, type 2, and other variants of diabetes are increasing and this has become a priority issue for commissioners in the area where Na’ema works as a diabetic nurse. As one part of a local strategic response to this issue, Na’ema has been asked to come up with some interventions that could help improve health and well-being outcomes for young people with a diagnosis of diabetes. Na’ema is aware that improved diabetes control in young people can reduce the incidence of microvascular complications and delay their progression. She also understands that a diagnosis can affect a young person's mental health, emotional well-being, and even attendance at school and engagement in extra-curricular and social activities.
1. Different perspectives of health exist, within which Na’ema might consider this issue. How would adopting different perspectives/approach influence Na’ema thinking? (Think physical, social, socio-environmental perspective (structural issues)).

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
2. Refer to the role of community Health nurses and suggest six possible interventions that Na’ema might come up with to promote the health and well-being of young people diagnosed with diabetes?
3. What is the level of intervention possible in this case?
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
4. Based on the above scenario, Prioritize two appropriate interventions Na’ema will be able to implement at the primary level.
5. If case fatality for diabetes type 1 in the area under study was found to be 1 in 500 cases. How do you interpret this? What is the difference between mortality and morbidity rate of diabetes in this scenario?
6. If a surveillance survey was used in the community where Na’ema works. Explain six purposes of carrying out this comprehensive survey.
7. Na’ema wants to make sure that equality is a consideration in diabetic care available to all.
1. Discuss four approaches to establish equality for diabetic patients in the community .
2. How equality is linked to vulnerable groups?

Case Study 1 You are a RN working in ED, looking after Edith, an 87-year-old with an admitting diagnosis of Acopia. All acute interventions have been completed for Edith, but the wards are full, so she will spend the next 8 hours (+) on an ED trolley in a corridor. Case Study 1. The implication in this scenario is that a diagnosis of 'acopia' is a diagnosis based on functional abilities and is a form of labelling.
1. What is the impact of a diagnosis based on the labelling of a patient? Answer this using online learning materials provided and other peer reviewed evidence. Acopia itself is more of a symptom of underlying changes than a diagnosis. 'Acopia' refers to decreased ability to cope/ manage activities of everyday life and is a symptom of increasing frailty. Edith is 87 years of age. Normal ageing process eventually leads to frailty. We studied frail aged in week 8 tutorial (review recording if you have forgotten) and in week 6 online material. Nurses role - Include an analysis of how this labelling impact the care Edith receives.
2. How do normal changes of ageing increase the risk of Edith developing a pressure injury in this scenario? Here you need to consider normal physiological changes that occur as part of ageing to body systems that increase the risk of developing pressure injury. We covered this in week 6 and week 10 online learning and in additional readings. You could easily relate at least 3 systems to this answer. Nurses role - Also analyse the role of the nurse to prevent pressure injury for Edith. Remember the scenario context.
The nursing role is important in this answer

Mr. Lee is a 27 y/o patient who has been found loitering on the
streets, he seems to
not have had a bath or anything to eat in days. His feet are

has also been reported as violent and has tried to wrestle with the
police. How would
you, as his nurse, use both the art and science of nursing to care
for him?
Please explain what type of admission would be suitable for him and
give the reasons
why from this scenario. During his care, he has threatened to kill
his neighbor when
he gets home because he believes that he stole his money. What
action does the
nurse need to take at this time? Mr. Lee is then discharged after 3
days, with a
diagnosis of schizophrenia. How was that diagnosis determined? What
type of setting
would be appropriate for his care after discharge? Please cite your
