ANSWER:
Analyze whether emotions or feelings play an important role in moral system. How do you relate to morality?
One Of the major areas that is still under controversy , and the conflict doesn’t seem to be resolved. One of the major conclusions that come out from this conflict is that emotions might be overwhelming and this may ultimately result in hindering the process of reasoning and the second conclusion made is that there is facilitation of intentional action and reasoning that is driven by emotions. It is true both ways, moral reasoning is shaped by emotions and that emotions shape moral reasoning. This results in the conditioning of out emotional responses so that they would fall in line with the moral beliefs as well as goals.
It has been seen that when people have intuitions about a particular decision being right or wrong and if these decisions are influenced under emotions, the decisions seem to be irrational. It has been argued by Jonathan Haidt that at many times, it is the emotional exactions that influence and form the basis of moral judgements. When emotions interfere with moral reasoning, the decisions made are not about rational deliberations but about the risks that a person could take.
Moreover, emotions not only affect moral decisions, but the behavioural as well as cognitive processes that surround the person and this might ultimately hinder in reaching the goals as well as needs that a person has decided for himself. If there is an absence of conscious reasoning, emotional responses would guide the person towards the most advantageous choice.
