The term polarization means the bond formation between two polar
atoms. For example : when a hydrogen atom combined with a chlorine
atom the polar chlorine atom makes the non polar hydrogen atom into
polar molecule under dipole-induced forces. This combination is
known as polarization.
Polarisation can be different types:-
- Ionic polarisation means while forming ionic bonds, one species
donates electron to another cation and anion takes place and
polarisation extent becomes very high for that bond.positive and
negative pole that is cation and anion attracts each other and
forms bond.
- If an ionic bond is present in any molecule,it’s pole that is
positive and negative counterparts would polarise its neighbouring
covalent bond that will be a induced polarisation.
- If cation size is very small and anion size is very big in an
ionic bond that effective nuclear charge of cation attracts loosely
bound penultimate shell electron cloud of anion and distorts
anionic electron cloud shape. This is ion polarisation. From above
information. NaCl-ionic polarization polyethylene -induced
polarization. and Al2O3 is ion polarization
