The ability to manage and understand one's own behavior and his/her reactions towards a particular feelings and activities that is going around in their daily lives is known as Self-regulation.

Self-regulation is one of the important factor for an individual's development, which is normally developed in toddlers and preschooler years which continues to develop into adulthood. Self-regulation is developed by sharing and talking about one's feelings and role-modelling.

Self-regulated learning (SRL) is a domain one among self-regulation which is closely associated with educational aims. These learners also take on demanding tasks such as developing an in-depth understanding of subject matter, practicing own learning etc.

Self-regulation from the social cognitive perspective looks at the triadic interaction among the person.

There are three important characteristics of self-regulated learning as stated below.

1. Self-reactions

2. Self-judgment

3. Self-observation

Examples of self-judgment in the process of self-regulation of learning are as stated below:

1. Loud Thinking - a thought process involvement in solving a problem described by the teacher.

2. Self-Assessment - also involves fosters planning, this basically assesses the necessary skills present in a learner and identifies the actual skills required to regulate their own learning.

3. Teaching reciprocally - Usage of new materials for teachers by the learners.

4. Activities based on assessment task or pre-existing tasks. This activity is also known as Wrapper Activity.

5. Material based questions developed by students which also includes new materials.
